How to Instruct
Solicitors can instruct me by email, outlining the nature of the case and the issues to address. I encourage initial enquiries to confirm availability, expertise, and any potential conflicts of interest.
Formal dental expert witness instructions should be provided in writing and include all relevant documentation. This typically includes clinical records, radiographs, correspondence, witness statements, and, where possible, a clear chronology. Well-organised documentation allows for an efficient and thorough review.
At the outset, solicitors should define the scope of the report clearly. This includes specifying key questions such as breach of duty, causation, condition, and prognosis. Clear instructions ensure a focused, relevant, and timely expert opinion.
Types of Instruction
I accept dental expert witness instructions from claimants, defendants, and as a Single Joint Expert. In every case, I apply the same level of independence, objectivity, and professional rigour.
I provide balanced, evidence-based opinions across a wide range of medico-legal matters in Periodontology and Implantology. In addition, I understand the different requirements associated with claimant, defendant, and joint expert instructions.
In all cases, my overriding duty remains to the court. I present opinions that are impartial, clearly reasoned, and fully compliant with the standards expected of an independent expert witness.
Practicalities
I accept instructions across the United Kingdom and offer both remote and in-person services. I usually review records and prepare reports remotely. However, I can arrange clinical examinations and court attendance in person when required.
In most cases, I complete reports within 4 to 6 weeks after receiving full instructions and complete documentation. However, I can accommodate urgent cases by prior agreement.
Throughout the process, I maintain clear and timely communication. This ensures efficient handling of instructions and keeps all parties informed.
Fees
Fees depend on the nature and complexity of the instruction. These may include record review, report preparation, conferences, and court attendance.
I provide clear and transparent fee structures. Where appropriate, I offer estimates at the outset. I begin work after confirmation of instructions and agreement of terms.
Full terms and conditions, including fee schedules and cancellation policies, are available on request.
